The SFIC Improv Jam, a San Francisco staple for 4 years running, is an improv theatre workout thats open to anyone who wants to play. After the Co-Ops MC reviews basic principles, groups of seven players improvise on a topic for thirty minutes. The evening consists of three sets and two intermissions. The San Francisco Improv Alliance presents its Ongoing Drop In Classes with Artistic Director of Oui Be Negroes and former Second City Chicago member Shaun Landry. A weekly three-hour drop in workshop on long form improvisation. These inexpensive workshops are for the beginning to advanced improviser or actor who wants to brush up weekly, but not take a full workshop series. A great alternative way to stay in improv shape!

Drop-in Improvisational workshop

Fort Mason, Laguna & Bay entrance, San Francisco
This ongoing workshop has been going on for almost 30 years. Morgan Upton started the workshop at The Boarding House. The workshop was handed over for 28 years to Jim Cranna, a member of the improv group The Committee. This year Jim handed over the workshop to Grace, a 18 year veteran of the workshop. Games, scenes, montages, scenes in the style of playwrights any and all of these might happen. Class size varies from about 15 to 25. Open to all levels and ages. Classes are held at Fort Mason almost every Saturday in the year. For room number, check the list of Daily Activities in the lobby of any Fort building (and on sandwich board outside).

If you're looking for entertainment for the cost of a movie, then jump on the Voice One stage Sunday nights and improvise away! After you play some warm up games, you'll create scenes, build recurring characters and have a whole heck of a lot of fun. And, members of the group have the opportunity to perform before an audience four times a year with Voice One's improv troupe, Sunday Recess! We welcome all new comers, seasoned professionals, and those in between. No pre-registration required. Just show up and be ready to play.
